We discussed the historic decision by NYS Supreme Court Judge, Lyle Frank, regarding the city’s unlawful school budget cuts. Leonie Haimson, our Talk out of School co-host, gave us a rundown of the events, including a powerful rally at the steps of the courthouse, that led to the final court decision, on Friday, August 5th. Daniel spoke with, Sheree Gibson, the recently appointed NYC Panel for Educational Policy (PEP) member, representing the borough of Queens. Queens Borough President, Donovan Richards, announced this key appointment last week She is a resident of Queens Village. Gibson has extensive experience as a parent leader in the city’s public school system, having been a member of several official bodies that shape school policies. She will serve on the Panel for Educational Policy (PEP), which governs the Department of Education (DOE).
