Leonie talks to Naveed Hasan, a new member of the Panel for Educational Policy who has been involved in helping the thousands of refugee children who are now enrolled in NYC public schools. He’ll tell us what the DOE is doing enough to support these students, and whether he thinks that’s sufficient. Then Cassie Creswell, the Executive Director of Illinois Families for Public Schools, updated us on the fascinating mayoral election in Chicago where former Chicago public schools CEO and corporate reformer Paul Vallas will be facing off against a former public school teacher and organizer, Brandon Johnson.
